A blizzard of inquiries about the Virgin Islands descended on the Islands information office in New York City following eye-catching advertisements which appeared earlier this month in four metropolitan eastern newspapers.

Winter-weary easterners responded en masse to the holiday appeal of the Virgin Islands.

There were hundreds of telephone calls and 1,517 letters during a four-day period.

Despite the heavy load, Margaret Z. Lenci, manager of the New York office, said each of the inquiries was answered and returned on the day received.
