Full Text

New-York. April 28.

Extract of a letter from a merchant in Havanna, to his correspondent in this city, dated April 7.

"This town is in much agitation on account of a deep plot lately discovered among the negroes.-- There are now about 500 of them in the Moro, and the soldiers are daily bringing in others from the country to add to their number. Thirteen were tried a day or two ago, and condemned. They are to-morrow to be executed; some to be hanged and the rest beheaded. In consequence of a report of an embargo in the United States (which is supposed to be a preparatory war measure) business is a little at a stand.

"Flour looking up and produce rather falling.-- The former, 5 days ago, was 17 50. No body now wishes to sell, and they ask 22. A few days, no doubt, will determine the question."
