Full Text

We are told that some Enemies to the Constitution of this Province, have assured the M---y that the Agreement of the Merchants not to import any British Manufactures, until a Repeal of the late Duty Acts shall be obtained, would not be kept to, but they might depend that the private Interest of individuals would counterwork the Schemes of those who pretended a zeal and love for their Country was the motive in coming into such an Agreement, and that it was their Opinion that no Measure could be better calculated to alarm and embarrass the M---y, and to bring about a Redress of American Grievances. We hope however, that the disinterested virtue of our Merchants will appear in as advantageous a light as did that of our famous Ninety-Two; and that it will not be in the Power of a few avaricious Traders, not to say Merchants, to force that respectable Body to a rescinding of those wise and salutary Restrictions.
