IS STILL WANTED.
Man in Quest of Whom Peoria Officer Came Over Here on Wednesday.
Wednesday afternoon a telegram from Peoria directed the arrest of N. B. Williams, but gave no reason therefor. Williams recently came here from Peoria and has been stopping at the home of his son-in-law, on South First avenue. On the evening train a deputy sheriff arrived and Officer Frame showed him the house.
Frame wanted to go around to the back door and surround the place, as it were, but the Peoria man who was in charge of the storming column thought it unnecessary. A woman came to the door in reply to a knock, and said that Mr. Williams was not there. That was sufficient, and the Peoria man came away. Frame wasn't satisfied and wanted to go back to search the house, but instead they went to a neighbor's, who informed them that Williams had been around there all day. Frame went back to the house and went through it, but if the desired individual was there he had had time to make his escape.
Williams is wanted on the charge of having beaten a man out of $60. The details of the transaction are not available. Neither is Williams as yet, and the Peoria man has gone home, warrant and all.
