Tacks.--The business of making tacks is carried on very extensively in Abington, (Mass.) about 20 miles from Boston, by patent machines which turn out the best, we understand, that are made. Nearly 100 persons are constantly employed by the enterprising proprietors of the machines, Messrs Elihu & Benjamin Hobart--and the manufactured article is dispersed and approved all over the United States.--Some of the handsome and perfect tacks are so small that 1000 only weigh one ounce. Great quantities are used in Boston, and still greater are regularly shipped hence in our numerous coast-wise packets.--Russia iron is necessary for this manufacture.
