Shipwreck. The Rob Roy from Belfast for Quebec, with 151 passengers, stranded on the shoals of I'Islet on the night of the 30th of April, in a storm. The night was very dark, and the pilot supposing the ship was on some uninhabited island or shoal which the tide would cover, did not land immediately. In the morning, the masts were cut away, the waves at the time running high and breaking over the vessel. The passengers in confusion hurried to the end of the bowsprit, from which they got into the boats, and several were drowned. Of those left on board the vessel, some perished from the cold. The steamboat Waterloo, which went to the wreck, had returned to Quebec with 70 of the passengers, and some had proceeded to Quebec by land. The number who perished was 29, viz. 8 men, 2 women and 19 children. The bodies were all taken ashore and buried. The cargo of the Rob Roy was valued at 30,000l. One passenger (Frank Chrasty,) lost his wife and three children; another (David McGarrow) out of four children lost three—the one saved is deaf and dumb, aged about 4 years. Thomas Millar, who had come out to settle with his friends at York, U. C. lost two children, his sister-in-law, (Mrs. Lamb.) with seven children, lost her husband and one child. The latter family had property on board worth near five hundred pounds, the whole of which is lost, and not a farthing insured. The vessel is a total wreck. Many of the settlers which have come up from the wreck, have been in respectable circumstances, several having embarked with considerable property.

The Captain and crew were saved.
