BAKERSFIELD, Calif., March 11.-- W. S. Coburn, grand goblin of the Ku Klux Klan, arrived here today from Los Angeles on a secret mission believed to have connection with the "night rider" troubles throughout the oil fields.
Coburn recently announced in Los Angeles that he intended to come to the Bakersfield district and clear the Ku Klux Klan of intimations that it was responsible for the numerous night raids and terror campaign being carried on throughout the West side.
Coburn said a bogus organization, hiding under the cloak of the real Klan, was responsible.
District Attorney Dorsey refused to comment on a published report that Coburn had been subpoenaed to appear before the Kern county grand jury. now investigating the night riding episodes.
