B O S T O N, July 18.

YESTERDAY being the anniversary Commencement at Harvard College, in Cambridge, his Excellency the Governor, his Honour the Lieutenant Governor, a number of the honourable his Majesty's Council, together with the Corporation, and the Governors of the College, preceded by the candidates for their first degrees in their gowns, went in procession from the Hall to the Meeting-House, where the exercises of this day were introduced with a preparatory prayer by the Reverend President, then followed a salutatory oration in Latin; to this succeeded a dialogue in the Greek, and another in the Samaritan language; after which the syllogistic disputations: These being ended, the audience were entertained with an elegant English Oration on the subjects of Science and Liberty; and a humorous satirical Oration closed the Exercises of the morning: after which the procession returned to the hall, where a genteel entertainment was provided.- Between four and five o'clock P. M. the procession, preceded by the Candidates for their second degree, returned from the hall to the meeting house, when the Rev. President opened the afternoon services with a Latin Oration. after which the candidates for the Master's degree held their usual syllogistic disputations in Latin, which were succeeded by a fine English Oration expressive of the highest sentiments of gratitude to the benefactors of the College. The several degrees were conferred in the usual manner previous to the valedictory Oration, a prayer by the President; and an anthem performed by the Under-graduates closed the academical services of the day.

The honorary degree of Master of Arts was also conferred on Colonel John Cummings, of Concord; and on the Rev. NAPHTALI DAGGETT, President of Yale College in Connecticut. And the degree of Doctor of Divinity on the reverend. learned and venerable NATHANIEL APPLETON, Pastor of the Church in Cambridge.
