We learn from the Richmond Whig that the Whigs have elected their candidate in Buckingham county by a large majority. This success secures to the Whigs a majority of two votes on joint ballot in the Legislature. The Whig majority in the county last spring was 92—it is now 152.
"So much for Buckingham."
When this noble county last spring threw off the shackles of a miserable party delusion, and enrolled herself amongst the emancipated counties of the Commonwealth, the victory was ascribed to the popularity of the Whig candidate, and a speedy and decisive reaction was foretold by the Great Prophet who prefigured so truly the reign of Andrew Jackson. "Wait till next Spring," said he, "and all will be right."
The infliction of Providence deprived the county of one of her worthy delegates, and the People have again been called upon to speak their will. Their voice has been in decided and unequivocal condemnation of all experiments and experimenters. The Whig candidate, George W. KYLE, Esq. has been elected by the decisive majority of 152 votes over Dabney P. Gooch, (Adm.) We annex the poll:
