A Southern editor, whose State has been specially over-run and afflicted with radical carpet-baggers from Ohio, who have come into his State and monopolized all the offices, accounts for the recent suicidal mania in our State Penitentiary on the supposition that they are the victims of despondency, produced by confinement in prison, while many of their companions in crime are permitted to go carpet-bagging down South, where they are made Governors and members of Congress, or appointed to postmasterships, and other lucrative offices. They esteem it unbearable that they should be punished for their little peccadilloes and delinquencies, while others, equally mean and dishonest, are used by the radical party to punish the Southern rebels.—Cincinnati Enquirer.
