RICHLAND UNIT OF NURSES ASSOCIATION ELECTS OFFICERS

The Richland County Unit of the District Nurses Association elected new officers for 1962, at their meeting in the dining room of Community Memorial Hospital Monday evening, January 8. President is Mrs. Hurley Carey; Vice President, Mrs. John Hundtofte; Secretary, Mrs. Knute Hoversten; Treasurer, Mrs. Charles Albrecht.

The new officers took office immediately. Members of the Board of Directors, and committee Chairmen, will be appointed later.

Activities of the past year were reviewed in reports given by members. The unit held a Civil Defense Workshop here in 1961, and is presently conducting a Red Cross course for instructors in home nursing. Graduates of that course will then become teachers for several courses in home nursing, to be offered the general public later.

Members also attended several courses in special techniques during 1961. These included studies in operating room procedures, maternity nursing and care, microbiological study, and presently a course in nursing of premature infants, as well as attendance at the state convention.

The unit is also assisting in the purchase of a projector, which has arrived, and will be used at the next meeting for showing a film.

Pauline Kopp was named chairman to recruit nurses for Red Cross blood drawings to be held here, and Mrs. Avis Peterson and Mrs. Bernadine Arnold were welcomed as new members. Hostesses for the lunch were Mrs. Carey and Mrs. Albrecht.
