Full Text

Juneau, May 17 (Special)—Bristol Bay canneries should be commended for their employment of Alaska Natives instead of hiring outside workers, says Bob Druxman, Juneau public relations counsel, who recently made an inspection of the Territory for the Alaska Native Service.

He said that three years ago these canneries began employing Natives instead of importing workers direct from the United States. This action has served two purposes, he declared. It has saved money for the canneries and it has helped give a cash income to the Natives.

Druxman said he hoped other industries would investigate the possibility of hiring Native employees. He said that they are efficient, skilled and willing workers.
