Navigation of the Amazon.-A recent correspondence has passed between the Brazilian and Peruvian governments on the subject of the navigation of the Amazon. Brazil imagines that the recent law enacted by Peru, declaring the navigation of the river free to all nations with which she has treaties, infringes on her rights, and therefore she protests against the law, and announces that she will hold Peru responsible for the injurious consequences she anticipates. Peru, on the contrary, insists on her perfect right to pass such a law, and conceives that she is under no such responsibility to Brazil.
