Our rulers may learn something of the spirit of the yeomanry of Baltimore county from the following fact: At a meeting of one of the militia regiments of the county near the neck, there were more than 400 citizens under arms, who with the spectators amounted to about 500, men of different politics. General Stansbury addressed them on the subject of war with Britain at some length and concluded by putting the question to them whether they were in favor of war which our government was about to engage in to avenge our wrongs and would support the government in its measures, to which they should manifest their assent by holding up their hands!!! All hands were up with the exception of about 25, but no opposition was made. Such a temper among our farmers speaks more in favor of energetic measures than volumes of comment.
