FIRES IN Baltimore.—Baltimore, May 1.—Spreckelton's very extensive rope walk, situated on Monument street, was burned to the ground at two o'clock this morning, and a large quantity of hemp, valuable machinery, &c., was destroyed, altogether involving a heavy loss. While the fire was still in progress, the rope walk on Gallows hill, owned by Durand, was discovered to be on fire, and entirely destroyed. Both fires were created by unknown incendiaries. During the fire several fights occurred, as usual, among the firemen.
