Were Awarded at 105th Commencement To-day

NINE HONORARY DEGREES
Ethel P. Southwick Got Special Honors in Classics and Orrin B. Hughes Special Honors in Economics.

Burlington, June 30.—The 105th commencement exercises of the university of Vermont were held to-day in the Strong theatre. The graduating class numbered 111, of which 33 were in the medical school. Special honors were awarded to Ethel P. Southwick of Burlington in classics and to Orrin B. Hughes of South Londonderry in economics.

Honorary degrees were awarded as follows:

LL. D.—Judge Seneca Haselton of Burlington, Judge George M. Powers of Morrisville, Congressman Frank Plumley of Northfield, Prof. James R. Wheeler of New York, Daniel L. Cady of New York.

Master of arts in education, Seland W. Landon of Bordentown, N. J., Mason S. Stone of Montpelier, Joseph D. Allen of Philadelphia, and Walter S. Cambridge of Southboro, Mass.

The undergraduate speakers at the exercises today were E. S. Abbott of Derby, I. K. Ellis of Rutland, G. S. Harris of Stowe, Miss Ethel Southwick of Burlington, O. B. Hughes of South Londonderry and S. G. Johndroe of West Salisbury for the academic department and F. W. Guild of Boston for the medical department.

The fourteen leaders of the class who were initiated into the Phi Beta Kappa last night are as follows:
