Full Text

Hon. J. R. Giddings of Ohio, is now one of the most active agents in fomenting hostility to the Whig ticket nominated by the Whig National Convention. In '41 he wrote a letter, in which occurred the following sensible advice,—which is quite as good now as it was then:—

"It is said by them, that it is wrong to vote for a slaveholder, or for one who will support a slaveholder. In answer, that it is their duty to do the greatest good in their power and to prevent all the evil which it is in their power to prevent; and if, to effect that object, it becomes necessary to vote for a slaveholder, it will be right, and a duty for them to do so."
