The Kansas Penitentiary.

Leavenworth, May 28.-Warden Tomlinson in discussing the work of the state prison said that many valuable improvements had been made to the property during the last year.

Among these was the building of the twine plant at a cost of $40,000, a brick warehouse for the twine plant, a brick plant and a school house.

In addition to this the shafts have been retimbered, new wells made and 2,000 feet of track laid for the coal cars.

The cost of the improvements has aggregated $90,000.
