Youth's Leader Breaks Racial Ban In Texas Hotel

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - The Hotel Breakers, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, had this week as its first Negro guest, Herbert Wright, youth secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Mr. Wright, now making a tour of Texas units of the NAACP, secured his accommodations at the hotel without prior reservations, arriving on Washington's birthday and remaining overnight. He reported he received courteous treatment from the management and from service workers, and aroused only the mild curiosity of the other hotel guests.
