On Monday Morning, at Three o'Clock, as the Sloop Squirrel, Captain John Taylor, from this Port for Antigua, was preparing to sail from Reedy Island, the following melancholy Accident happened, viz. On hoisting the Main sail, the Boom knocked Mr. John Langdale, junior, and the Captain, who were on the Quarter Deck, overboard. Capt. Taylor happily catched Hold of the Leech of the Sail, and was got into the Vessel again; but Mr. Langdale was drowned, notwithstanding all could be done, by throwing Hencoops over to him, letting go the Anchor, and getting out the Boat, with the utmost Expedition.
