As an aftermath of the Lake County Grand Jury investigation, Mrs. Mattie Lee Calloway, former clerk in the assistant principal's office at Roosevelt high school was indicted Monday on a charge of embezzlement. Funds totaling $9,152 from the school's extra-curricular fund were discovered short when the state auditor made his report on the financial status of the high school in his report last year. Mrs. Calloway who was a clerk in the office for 17 years is charged with the loss of these funds. Last week principal H. Theo. Tatum and many of his teachers appeared before the grand jury as witnesses, and this past Monday Supt. Lutz, and Auditor Bell appeared before the jury issued its indictment against Mrs. Calloway who lives at 2544 Buchanan. Embezzlement conviction carries a two to 14 year imprisonment and a maximum fine of $1,000. A warrant for Mrs. Calloway's arrest was issued Tuesday.
