FAWCETT MEETS OLD COMRADE

Rev. C. E. Cline of Portland, who came to Tacoma to deliver an address at the First Methodist church last night on "Abraham Lincoln," featured in a touching scene at the church that was not on the program.

Just before the services, Rev. Cline was meeting friends in the lobby of the church, and shook hands with Mayor Fawcett.

"What's the name?" asked Fawcett.

"My name is Cline," replied the pastor.

"Mine's Fawcett—don't you remember me back in the First Illinois?" exclaimed the mayor.

The two men were overjoyed at the meeting.

Rev. Cline and Mayor Fawcett served in the First Illinois volunteers during the Civil war and were great friends. They had not seen or heard of each other in 51 years, until the meeting last night.
