Extract of a letter from a gentleman in New-Orleans, dated 26th January.
"Since my last of the 13th inst. there have arrived here thirteen American vessels, and several are shortly expected from Vera Cruz, where they have been denied permission to sell. The great number of arrivals here lately have reduced our markets considerably, and they will continue falling for some time.
"At present sales for cash cannot be made. Wine is in great plenty. Our own produce has risen in consequence of the increased demand, and will soon become very scarce."
