We extract the following paragraph from the N. York Star of the 9th inst., and entirely concur with the editor in his approbation of the Doctor's Oxford Address and the "desire that the author should at some future day favor the public with a history in extenso of the growth and prospects of the West." We believe that a few copies of the discourse may yet be obtained at the Book Store of Truman & Smith, Main street in this city.
"We are indebted to Dr. Drake, for a copy of his admirable "Discourse on the history, character and prospects of the west," delivered by him before the Union Library Society of Miami University, at Oxford in Sept. last. The subject selected by the orator is one of absorbing interest, and he has treated it in a manner which induces the desire that one who has shown himself so competent to the task, should, at some future day, favor the public with a history in extenso of the growth and prospects of the west. The language of the discourse is chaste and nervous, and with the notes accompanying it, will command an attentive perusal."
