SAN FRANCISCO, Mar. 28.-Mayor Rolph today is planning to provide relief for the 40,000 unemployed in San Francisco.
Four hundred men visited him at the city hall.
The police tried to prevent their entrance but Rolph heard of it and insisted that they enter.
"We want a place to sleep," said the spokesman, "and we want to eat three meals a day. We also want work.
Unless we get immediate relief somebody will suffer financially. There will be no violence, but we are going to eat."
"We are doing all in our power," said Rolph.
"But we can't wait, we must eat," was answered.
All with no place to sleep were asked to hold up their hands. The majority did so.
