Based on more than twenty years intimate association with the Franklin D. Roosevelts, when she and her husband, Irwin McDuffie, prominent Atlanta Negro citizens for many years, Mrs. Lizzie McDuffie has begun the writing of a book, which is destined to be the classic among Rooseveltiana. Adlai went to dinner once at the White House and wrote the best seller "Dinner at the White House". Lizzie and Irwin McDuffie ate breakfast, dinner and supper at the White House for twelve years, lived in the White House and one or the other was with President Roosevelt and the Roosevelt family wherever they went: from Warm Springs, Georgia to the Caribbean by land, sea, and air.
Mrs. McDuffie is a well-known elocutionist and was one of the original members and secretary of the Fine Arts Club, of Atlanta, which for many years was headed by Professor Kemper Harreld. This talent enjoyed the confidence of this century's great President, since she was called upon to train and present an annual series of children's dramas at Hyde Park each Summer.
The theme of Mrs. McDuffie's book will be "The Roosevelt We Knew." Mrs. McDuffie returned to her home in Atlanta after the death of President Roosevelt.
