Oratorio.--Mr. Beck--I attended the last Oratorio given by Mr. Ostinelli, and was much pleased with it. I am informed, that Mr. O. intends, at the request of his friends, repeating it. I am pleased that he does so, and on Fast-day evening, I think, if suitable weather, there will be a good audience. I am also informed, that he will be assisted by a full and efficient Choir. viz: by the Franklin Band which I must allow myself to say here, have rapidly improved, and many of them now perform on their different instruments as well as any who have of late years visited us--and by the orchestra of the theatre and amateurs among us. The orchestra and band have been for some time, rehearsing a number of overtures; several of which will be performed on that occasion. This kind of music is not only the very best, but also very beautiful and highly admired. It always pleases, and more especially here, where we have been accustomed to nothing of the kind.
Mr. Ostinelli stands very high in this place as a gentleman and professor of music. Many of those who are his friends, and lovers of music, were disappointed of hearing the last Oratorio, and will attend this. I think they will consider him entitled to it, and will avail themselves of the opportunity of hearing this "rich treat," which Mr. O. has taken so much pains to make worthy the attention of all lovers of good music.
