Cotton Field Day
Slated Oct. 18

Mechanization will be the keynote theme of this year's annual Cotton Field Day Wednesday at the University of Arizona Cotton Research Center near Phoenix.

"Cotton farmers throughout Arizona are invited." Dr. Howard Ray, U of A cotton specialist, said.

There will be a demonstration of a new cotton stalk-chopping machine developed by U of A Ag Engineer Dale Cannon. There will also be a display of row-crop planting equipment, and even a soil-judging contest for cotton growers.

Program gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with a talk about "Complete Mechanization Yesterday a Dream, Tomorrow a Fact" by Dr. Kenneth K. Barnes, head of U of A Ag Engineering. Arizona farmers will be given a tour of the 265-acre experimental cotton farm.

The Cotton Research Center is between Tempe and Phoenix at East Broadway and 42nd St.
