WASHINGTON, D.C.- A new edition of the U. S. Labor Department's Brief History of the American Labor Movement has just been issued.
Illustrated and pocket size, the booklet tells the story of American labor from early colonial times to the expulsion of the Teamsters from the AFL-CIO. The process of collective bargaining, important strikes and landmarks, structure and methods of unions, and aims of organized labor are among the subjects covered. Included is a concise chronology of noteworthy labor events covering 250 years.
This is the first revision of the Bureau of Labor Statistics booklet in 7 years. It has been used extensively in schools, union classes, and training institutes. Copies of BLS Bulletin 1000 may be obtained from BLS regional offices or from the Superintendent of Documents, Washington 25, D.C., at 35 cents a copy, with a 25 per cent discount on orders of 100 copies or more.
