Big Docket at Civil Term Being Cleared Up Rapidly: Many Judgments
Seven divorces have been granted at the cases in progress here this week. Judge T. C. Lyon presiding. More are on the docket. The plaintiffs in most cases getting a verdict with little delay, the five year separation clause winning their cases. Several judgments have been allowed, most of them for small amounts under $100. The largest however was the case of E.S. Scott et als. vs. W. I. Knight, the plaintiffs being allowed a verdict of $2,750.05. A. J. Aydlett won a verdict of $75 against W. A. Worth and J. F. Stafford. L. M. Goodman sues F. W. Cooke and W. I. Jollay, won a judgment. J. C. Halsey against Sarah Holley, won a verdict of $15. R. E. Chesnutt, suing J. C. Spence, won a verdict of $200. Among those obtaining absolute divorces were Corn Jones from Walter Jones, Eva Dowdy from Miles Dowdy, William Goodwin from Bessie Goodwin, Areina Ambrose from Reuben Ambrose, Mary Felton from John Felton, Louis Robinson from Jesse Robinson, all under five year separation plea; and Mary Crank from Charlie Crank, grounds of statutory infidelity.
