One God For A White And Black Babe

I had a dream, a dream one night, I was in the South and witnessed a segregation fight.

I raised my eyes to the Heavens and what did I see?

There was God in his Kingdom with a colored Babe on his knee.

It looked up into his Glorious face for it knew not the difference its color of race.

And on the other was a little curly blonde whose silky hair he gently fond.

There were no tears in their little eyes for after talking with God no one cries.

Their suffering is over they have no pain, it was left in this world from where they came.

God gave them to you for such a short time to love and cuddle in your arms.

And then he called them home, for he needed them bad. And it made both races that loved them all feel sad, when from their little bodies there was no life. God had saved them from having to be in this segregation fight.

He took them with him for he loves us all, but the dark or white must go, when they hear his call.

It hasn't been so long ago you buried your white child under the dirt and skift of snow. The others all around him was white you know.

But over yonder on that distant hill a colored child was buried for it also was Gods will.

They couldn't be placed beside each other, for one had been borne with a darker color.

And yet each one was as dear as the other both Babes had been held tight and loved by their Mother.

The tears that you shed at each little grave standing there, for both families knew they were now out of their care.

Do you trust your child with God when the others there to for you know very well what he will do.

It makes no difference to him he loves every one, that is why he gave to the world his only Son, and he didn't say whites only and leave the colored ones.

Yes during life you kept them apart, you were better than they you thought in your heart.

But did you stop God's hand when you and your child had part? knowing he took both Babes at the same time to his heart.

Be a samaritan and follow his rule, let the colored children go to your white child's school.

God asks so little of us each day, so why not ask him to guide you as you kneel and pray.

Forget the old ways and live for the new, let him lead you by the hand in the right thing to do. Think of the child for awhile it was boss.

the one that you lost, the sunshine it brought you and now there is no sound of pattering feet, they are silenced forever unless God lets you meet.

He reached out and took each tiny hand with love far more sacred than any man.

Yes in my dream I could see, the little white boy sitting on Gods knee and the black boy sat on the other, same size same age but not the same color. Each one was asking about Daddy and Mother, they remembered Sister and also big Brother.

God had wiped away their baby tears and they were cuddled in his arms with-out any fear.

He gave them a promise they could see you some day then he stood the little Fellows in his garden to play, where the Angels will watch over them every day.

Their little faces beamed with Heavenly light, far away from home and the segregation fight.

And in my vision they were having such wonderful fun as they started off together on a bunny run.

They ducked under shrubs as they looked here and there for a pink eyed rabbit with furry white hair.

They were the same little lads I had seen before, one buried with the whites under the skift of snow, the other one up on yonder hill the ones that left together for it was God's Will.

He will keep his promise he gave to them, that some day they shall see you but no one knows when.

I awoke with a start and set up in bed, why let a Yankee like me see these things I said?

I opened my eyes and I cant forget that dream, I pray every night God will let you people see what I had seen.

For the last vision I had they were holding hands by the gate, they were happy, together, they knew no hate.

God stood there with them with a hand on each head, remembering his promises and every word that he said.

Yes they are watching and waiting and he was watching too, but it was up to you people if God lets you through.
