Oregon Officers of Both Branches Elected and Harmony Prevails.
SALEM, Ore., Jan. 11.-The Oregon legislature convened for the 25th time today. Jay Bowerman, of Condon, was elected president of the senate, and C. N. McArthur, speaker of the house. W. M. Barry of Multnomah, was appointed chief clerk of the senate and W. Fred Drager, of Marion, chief clerk of the house.
The opening session was devoid of any incident and whatever bitterness there may exist, because of the defeat of certain factions, is hidden for the purpose of having harmony at the beginning of the session.
Both of the houses met early and effected a temporary organization and then took a recess until 2 o'clock in the afternoon, when the body reassembled the credential committee made its report, the members were sworn in and the first business transacted was the introduction of some resolutions, and reading for the first time a number of bills.
