PHILADELPHIA, October 5.

We are sorry to inform our country readers, that the prevailing disorder which has raged in this city for some time past, still continues to carry off numbers of our fellow citizens. Some days we are flattered with the appearance of its having greatly abated, at others of its still increasing force. Upwards of one thousand of our citizens have fell victims to this dreadful disease!

We have not had any rain here for upwards of two months.

Near two sail of vessels are now riding anchor in the Delaware bound to this port, but on account of the prevailing epidemic, are not permitted to come up and unload. Most of the fall vessels from Europe are among the number.

Out of four daily papers heretofore published in this city, at present there is only one—two of the weekly papers have also been discontinued on the same account, viz. the prevailing sickness.
