Full Text

Baltimore, Aug 4.—Important Report.—The schr. Elizabeth, Captain Ersbie, arrived here this morning, in 12 days from St. Thomas, and states that before he sailed, the brig Edward, Captain Davis, arrived there from Pernambuco, having left on the first June, and reported from Mr. Mansfield, the American Consul at Pernambuco, that peace had been concluded between Buenos Ayres and the Brazils. Captain Beytrum at St. Thomas from Pernambuco, and who relates a capture by a Buenos Ayrean Privateer, in sight of Pernambuco, on the 15th June, makes no mention of the above; there is, therefore, good reason to doubt its occurrence.
