Our brethren of the Type in Philadelphia seem to be labouring very hard to persuade Congress, that their City is the only place in the United States fit for the Seat of Government; indeed they have magnified and praised this Metropolis of America to such an excess, that it appears the honor will be conferred on Congress (by permitting them to reside there) instead of Congress conferring it upon them.—What pity it is that the New-Yorkers of that honorable Body should make them so blind to their real interest, as not to prefer the first city, on the finest river, in the most respectable state in America, to a parcel of buildings, confusedly situated on a pitiful Island, which has neither ice in winter to protect it, nor force in summer sufficient to prevent Congress and all their papers being carried off by pirates! It appears wonderful that men of sense should hesitate in their choice of two places so very different; yet it has been the case, and what is most surprising, is, that a majority have approved of the one hardly fit for a gentleman, much more a President, to live in.
