PROVIDENCE, FRIDAY, MAY 11, 1810.
The Devil of Democracy is now riding his circuits. He has already taken his route through Massachusetts, Rhode-Island, New-Hampshire and New-York; but Connecticut still continues to bid him defiance. While our political opponents bluster and look big at the triumph they have lately obtained over virtue, honour and federalism, we beg leave of them to look for a moment to the security of their own ranks. The Baltimore Whig and Duane's immaculate Aurora are outrageous with the President for not having made us the slaves of France as rapidly as they had reason to expect. The truth is, that our jacobins are now what they've ever have been-monarchists in disguise; they are the pimps of French aggrandizement, and nothing but the incompetence of Bonaparte to subjugate them, prevents them from enjoying that state of servitude which they are now sighing after. St. Tammany and Bonaparte are two savages that have a fellow-feeling for each other.
