Fire at Colfax.

At twenty minutes past two o'clock last Friday morning, Colfax a thriving little city in the Eastern part of the Territory, was visited by a disastrous fire, which speedily destroyed three blocks of buildings, with much of their contents. The fire originated in an empty building, and is supposed to have been the work of an incendiary. The Evart House, a hotel costing $18,000, was among the property destroyed, the total value of which, less insurance, will amount to $75,000. The insurance amounts to $34,000, distributed among the principal companies. Twenty-six buildings were consumed, but no lives were lost. The people of Colfax own a fire engine, but it was out of repairs and could not be used. Had it been available, it is said that fully two-thirds of the loss might have been averted. The citizens have already begun to rebuild and a $28,000 hotel is to occupy the site of the Evart House.
