LOOK AT THIS PICTURE!
For years past, the Aurora has unceasingly asserted that the Federalists wanted to plunge this country into war and ruin, and that the democrats were for peace with all nations. Day upon day was written, address after address to the society of Friends, conjuring them by our bleeding in December, who inculcated "peace on earth and good will among men," by the respected name of Penn, by their own religious tenets which forbade them to war, to join and put the democrats into power; which, if done they were assured the nation would be saved from oppressive taxes, and from the shedding of human blood in a ruinous war; and every man could then quietly sit down under the shade of his own vine & fig-tree, and none to make him afraid
We assert, without fear of contradiction, that there is not one reputable democrat who will venture to deny that this was the cant, for it is notorious to the world, and was repeated till it became stale.
How is it now?
LOOK AT THIS PICTURE!
The artifices of the Aurora succeeded; the democrats got into power; and now they want to plunge the nation into a ruinous War. Those who are inclined to peace are indiscriminately branded as traitors, tories, incendiaries and British partisans; and even threats are used to deter them from freely declaring their opinions.
