The Nome Public School will open September 2, 1958, the day following Labor Day.
School Supt. Wm. Angell said an enrollment in the Elementary grades of approximately 600 pupils is expected. The high school enrollment is expected to be about 120.
The high school faculty will comprise John Rauch, Mrs. Emma S. Cameron, Mrs. Alice Osborne, William H. Ullrich, Don Perkins and Olaf Halverson.
Additional teachers are to be employed for special fields.
The Elementary teachers (tentative, with exceptions), the following are employed: Mrs. Caroline Coons, Mrs. Lennie M. Nerland and Mrs. Nelda Liebig for first grades; Mrs. Ann Gillis, Mrs. Evelyn Langhus and Mrs. Fannie Woodiel for second grades; Mrs. Mary Ellen Walsh, Mrs. Jane Perkins and Mrs. Dorothy Emmons for third grades; Mrs. Izetta Draper, John W. Woodiel for fourth grades; Miss Constance Erickson, Mrs. Marilyn Owen for fifth grades; Forrest Draper, Mrs. Helen Draper for sixth grades; Mrs. Pauline Witner. Frank Denny for seventh grades; Clarence J. Steinback and Carl Liebig for 8th grades.
Parents of those children who will enroll in first grade for the first time may bring their children to the northeast room in the new addition. Enrollment will start at 8:30 the morning of Tuesday, September 2nd. It is required that Birth Certificates be brought for all children attending first grade for the first time.
No child may attend a Territorial school who has not reached his sixth birthday on, or before, November 1, 1958. All other grade children who are entering Nome Public School are asked to bring their report cards from the school previously attended.
With the exception of the first grade, registration for grade and high school will be at 9:00 a.m. on September 2, 1958.
There will be a faculty meeting held in the Nome School at 2:00 p.m. on September 1st (Labor Day).
