The Warrenton and Skipanon nines played a game of baseball yesterday with the score being 18 to 16 in favor of the former.
Sam Oliver's men, who struck Friday for higher wages at the seining grounds, went to work yesterday under a compromise.
One of the proudest men in town is Captain E. P. Parker, who has commenced to educate another steamboat master.
The Clatsop mills, Astoria Box Co., and other factories are running full time and have hard work to keep ahead of their orders.
Mr. E. F. Thayer returned yesterday from Portland. He was recently in Cincinnati, and has resumed his duties on the steamer Lurline.
Saturday Inspectors Edwards and McDermott examined the boilers of the steamer Astorian, and pronounced them in good condition.

The baseball game in Uppertown Sunday, between the Alderbrooks and the Astorians, resulted in favor of the former by a score of 43 to 27.
Jim Hare will be a living monument to the memory of General Grant at Fisher's opera house July 3. Admission, 50 and 25 cents. The Fourth of July dance this year will be given the evening of the 5th, at Foard & Stokes' hall. Ladies free.
The sheriff yesterday sold all the property in the county which was levied upon for unpaid taxes. In most instances the county was the purchaser.
Miss Belle Kearney, of Mississippi, will lecture in the M. E. church, Tuesday evening, June 29. Miss Kearney excels in vitriolic and splendid oratory.
