Full Text

Shown on this page is the Organization Chart of Bradley Field, displaying more graphically than could be done by any other method the integration of the R.T.U. program at this Base, with the various divisions and the inter-relationship between the various departments.

The original of this chart has been installed in Base Headquarters.

The chart describes the duties of the staff divisions, branches and technical services at Bradley Field.

The plan followed here at Bradley Field is the result of the recently inaugurated Army Air Forces administrative policy.

The new Base organization, effected by a consolidation of personnel from the Fighter Command and Air Force, is working toward a common goal, namely, to train Fighter Pilots efficiently for combat duty with a minimum of personnel and an economy of effort.

It has been especially modified to fit the needs of this Base.

Heading the Base area organization as its Commander is Colonel H. E. Johnson, who is responsible for the efficient, economical and harmonious functioning of the Base. In carrying out this responsibility, he is assisted by the Director of Administration and Services, the Director of Training and the Director of Supply and Maintenance.

The Director of Administration and Services serves as a sort of "clearing house" on administrative matters, with a view of relieving the Base Area Commanding Officer of a load which would otherwise prove too great for any one individual.

The Director of Training deals with all policy matters pertaining to aerial and ground training.

The Director of Supply and Maintenance supervises and co-ordinates all matters pertaining to materiel.

Directly responsible to the three directors are Administrative, Technical and Tactical officers who are concerned chiefly with matters peculiar to their own departments.

The Air Inspector, the Budget and Fiscal Officer and the Legal Officer, although not directly responsible to the three directors, work in collaboration with them and also serve in an advisory capacity to the Base Commanding Officer on their respective specialties.
