Hongkong, April 15. -
Informed Chinese Sources linked the report that several Japanese warships would visit Amoy about May 1st, with news that Fukien Province would declare itself an independent state. Spokesmen declined the possibility of armed conflict would be avoided May 1st to coincide with the arrival of the Japanese fleet, with thirty thousand men aboard.
Alarm increased because of the continuous information that illicit arms and an influx of persons from the Japanese island of Formosa, had been going on.
About one hundred thousand Formosans are reported to be in the Fukien cities of Amoy, Changchow and Chuanchow.
General Chang Fa Kuei sent delegates to Canton, ask for military cooperation from the Canton government, if it becomes necessary.
