We hear that one Dagget, belonging to the Vineyard, who had served the before-mentioned Schooner as a Pilot, but at the time of her being destroyed was on board the Beaver sloop of war, going ashore a few days since at Narraganset to a sheep shearing, was seized by the company, who cut off his hair, and performed on him the operation of ear-ing in such a manner, that his ears and nose were in imminent danger.

A sloop from New-York prompted the Gaspee schooner to give chase and run aground. Colonists boarded, bound the crew, set fire to the vessel, and wounded the captain in the arm and belly. The captain was taken to Pawtuxet and expected to recover. Pilot Dagget, then on the Beaver, was later seized at Narraganset, had his hair cut, and underwent ear-ing, endangering his ears and nose.
