Church Asks End Of Segregation

NEW YORK, Feb. 17. (G) -- Immediate abolition of segregation in churches of all denominations was urged Sunday February 8, by Rev. Dr. Stanley I. Stuber, chairman of the Commission on Religious Freedom of the Baptist World Alliance.

Rev. Dr. Stuber in making this announcement, which was in conjunction with the 26th annual observance of Race Relations Sunday, contended that, "If the churches do not accept the challenge, they will be encouraging the present trend in this nation toward militarism and become unwittingly, an ally of communism."

Communism lives on the fears created by injustice and the dissatisfactions and resentments that are caused by Jim Crow practices.

The time has come to open all our churches to all who desire to enter therein.
