HELICOPTER EXPLODES; 2 MEN KILLED

Accident Occurs in Midair as Craft Is Landing at Seattle

SEATTLE, May 8.—Civil Aeronautics Administration officials and representatives of the Central Aircraft Company sought today to determine the cause of the midair explosion late yesterday of one of the company's helicopters over Lake Union.

Two men drowned when the plane plummeted into the lake. They were identified as Angus E. McArthur, 24, of Yakima, Wash., the pilot, and Walter A. Storck, of Washington, D. C., a C.A.A. employee.

Their bodies have not been recovered.

Eye witnesses said the plane exploded at an altitude of about 250 feet while coming in for a landing.
