Boston, Aug. 2. -A special from Oak Bluffs to the Advertiser says: "For some weeks there has been a great deal of scandal in connection with Mr. Vinson, of Edgartown, and S. K. Elliott, of Worcester, who have occupied a cottage in company with two married women belonging to Edgartown. These men have been threatened with a coat of tar and feathers, and Vinson, fearing trouble, left the island some weeks ago. Last night about 11 o'clock a party went to the cottage and called Elliott. After considerable trouble they forced him into a wagon, in which were a pot of tar and a bag of feathers. Elliott drew a revolver and fired twice, the second shot killing Caleb Smith, brother of the (m.) women. Intense excitement prevails in consequence of the affair."
