Gentlemen—Having seen in your papers an article purporting to be a reply to my card of thanks, but in reality a denial of all that I stated in relation to the Revenue Cutter, I wish now to say that I stated nothing but the truth, in respect of their neglect to give me the necessary aid. I desired them to carry out an anchor in their boat : they declined, saying they could not row her to windward! but at this very time I rowed my vessel's boat, with the help of one man only, to and from the Cutter:—and yet they would have it thought that 6 men could not row their boat! They did promise to do it as soon as the gale abated: but they did not do it, nor make any attempt to do it, until an hour and a half after the gale had abated—and they did not arrive with their aid, until we had hove the vessel off shore with our own anchor. I went alongside the Cutter the second time, when Capt. Frisbee went on board and either ordered or requested aid—and at that time there were no preparations made for giving aid,—but the tackle was put into the hold, the anchor hoisted out and the boat got ready,—after this second request, and not before I do not wish to find fault without cause—but there was positively no trial made by the Cutter to get a boat to us, until after Capt Frisbee's request, and this can be abundantly proved by all the men who were before named as giving their help to save the vessel.

Main Argument
the revenue cutter neglected to provide timely aid to the author's vessel in distress during a gale, contrary to their denial; the author provides specific evidence of delays and unpreparedness until after capt. frisbee's request.
