Great interest has been excited in England, lately, by the trial and conviction of a person of the name of Fauntleroy: partner in Belling House, for forging powers to sell out government stocks. Notwithstanding the respectability of his connections, and the urgent instances for his pardon, he suffered the punishment of death for his crime, in the presence of an immense crowd of people. London, about seven weeks ago. The crime of forgery, it seems, is, in England, an offence which nothing but death can expiate.—Nat. Int.
