From the Albany Plough Boy
NEW YORK against VIRGINIA.
And vice versa—a challenge.
Virginia challenged New York, Sir Charles vs. Eclipse—$10,000.
It is well known as soon as Eclipse came in sight of Sir Charles,—that he shrunk from the trial of speed, under a pretext of being crippled. In course Eclipse returned in triumph to the proud state of New York which excels in every thing.
Challenge No. II.—Virginia, as if in retaliation, now holds forth a challenge on a bet of $500 bull against bull.
Challenge No. III—To be even with Virginia, and tenacious of the glory of New York, which must not be excelled in any thing
I now offer a bet of $1000; hog vs. hog, to eclipse Virginia, as well in weight, size, smallness of bone, just proportions and aptness to fatten, to be exhibited at the next cattle show on York Island, where the Virginia hog may be sent by water. JOHANNES UNDERDUNK.
