Passenger trains over the Pacific railroad have been heavily patronized of late; both roads being in good condition. These trains of the Union Pacific route which were recently destroyed burned. They are being thoroughly overhauled and ballasted, a work which has already been completed on the Central Pacific railroad. Both roads are in better condition than the average of those in the Eastern States, while the rolling stock of the sage brush line is immeasurably superior in point of comfort and cleanliness to those of the Old West. The cars provided for emigrants are also very comfortable and are run through (with freight) from Sacramento to Omaha in eight days.
